Secured consent to convert the buildings into a dwelling under ‘Class Q’

Following the refusal of planning permission in late 2016 to convert the buildings into a dwelling, BPA were engaged by the owners and in early 2017 secured consent to convert the buildings into a dwelling under ‘Class Q’.

The Class Q provisions are quite restrictive, in particular in relation to the extent of residential curtilage.  Having secured the principle of development under Class Q we revised the scheme and re-submitted the planning application.

The revised scheme is more sympathetic to the historic character of the building than both the previously refused scheme and that approved under Class Q; it also provides the owners with a bespoke dwelling that meets their particular needs, including the provision of a large south-facing garden to the rear of the dwelling.
