Conversion of Former Doctors Surgery to Residential

Conversion of Former Doctors Surgery to Residential

Conversion of Doctors Surgery to Residential Dwelling

Location: Doctors Surgery, Stow-on-the-Wold, Cheltenham

Case Type: Change of use from D1 to C3

Council: Cotswold District Council

Status: Approved

Planning permission has been granted for external alterations to facilitate the conversion of a former doctors surgery to a residential dwelling. The design and construction methods of the proposals required careful consideration due to the fact the existing building is situated on a Scheduled Ancient Monument – a very rare Bronze Age enclosure of which only 10 have been identified within the country.

To further complicate matters, the proposals also had the potential to impact upon the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the setting of a Conservation Area. However, we were able to demonstrate that the current building is negative feature within the landscape and that the proposed works would positively enhance the immediate area.
