Winchcombe Methodist Church

Winchcombe Methodist Church

We are delighted to announce that on the 24th November, we received planning permission from Tewkesbury Borough Council for the conversion of Winchcombe Methodist Church to a community performing arts centre.

Winchcombe Arts and Community Hub (WACH), in association with WAM Youth, Winchcombe’s ‘We All Matter’ youth group, sought to convert the Methodist Church and to transform it into a versatile, dynamic hub that fosters creativity, inclusivity, and community spirit. At Brodie Planning, we were delighted to to join in on this ambitious project.

WACH envision a space that facilitates:

Creativity & Inspiration –

We aim to offer an inviting arts space that encourages creative exploration and learning. This will be a venue where individuals can both gain inspiration and entertain others, nurturing a vibrant arts culture within Winchcombe.

Youth Empowerment –

Recognising the importance of investing in our future, WACH will provide a safe and welcoming indoor space for our local youth. Through a variety of activities, we strive to support them in achieving their full potential and becoming active contributors to our community.

Community Engagement –

As a central hub for Winchcombe, our goal is to host a range of community-led events and activities. This space will be a melting pot of ideas, collaborations, and shared experiences, reinforcing our community bonds.

Join WACH and Brodie Planning on this exciting journey as as the Church is re-envisioned and re-purposed into a thriving hub for the arts and community in Winchcombe.

Ashfield Tanworth-in-Arden

Ashfield
Tanworth-in-Arden

BPA are thrilled to announce that we have successfully secured planning permission for the construction of a single storey side and rear extension to a two-storey, detached dwelling in Tanworth-in Arden.

The proposed development will transform and enhance the living space at Ashfield, by providing a larger open-plan kitchen diner with living area to the rear, and a separate utility room to the side.

The materials chosen for the extension will seamlessly blend with the existing structure, including red brick external walls that echo the current façade and clay roof tiles on the mock-pitched roof at the front of the side extension.

While cherishing the traditional, we’re also introducing modern innovations. The flat roof element at the rear of the property will be covered with a single ply membrane, ensuring durability and protection for the new space.

We can’t wait to see this project transform Ashfield into a comfortable, modern space for the applicants, so stay tuned for updates as this project is brought to life! The before and after plans below show how we imagine Ashfield to look once all works have been completed – check it out!

Waterside, Church Walk – Cheltenham

Location: Waterside, Church Walk, Cheltenham

Case Type: Replacement Dwelling

Council: Cheltenham Borough Council

Status: Approved

BPA are delighted to announce securing Planning Permission for a modern replacement dwelling at Waterside in Cheltenham.

Following on from the granting of a previous permission on the site, we worked closely with the clients to piece together a new application.

In the hopes of providing a bespoke, contemporary property for our clients, this application sought permission for an updated external design to the previously approved dwelling as well as an alternative interior layout.

The updated external design responds beautifully to the properties unique setting along the River Chelt, as well as meeting all of the clients day-to-day needs in terms of essential functioning as a family home.

In regards to the new design, Cheltenham Borough Council Architectural Panel concluded that “the architecture is even arguably improved as it is an updated design which reflects up-to-date styles and techniques.”

The Stables, Postlip, Near Winchcombe

The Stables, Postlip, Near Winchcombe

Overwhelming support at Tewkesbury Borough Council Planning Committee meeting this morning for an application to convert a disused former stables building into two holiday let units.  Brodie Planning are pleased with the success of this submission due to the support this type of development offers the rural economy and moreover, securing an appropriate use for a disused historic building thereby prolonging its life.  The preparation of the application required careful consideration on a number of complex matters including the non-designated heritage asset status of the building and its siting within a rich historic context (both natural and built); the presence of bats in the building; along with more typical requirements for surface water and foul drainage, and highway/sustainable transport matters.
