Location: The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge

Development: Conservation project for Godwits Futures

Status: Approved

Brodie Planning Associates is proud to have secured planning permission on behalf of The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge for the Godwit Futures project funded by Natural England SRPCGS. The Black-tailed Godwit is a species of urgent conservation concern. A 10-year action plan for their conservation in the UK aims to increase the population at 4 locations by 2030. The creation of infrastructure at SWWT will allow the establishment of the captive population and will provide SWWT with the facilities to implement future releases in line with the new UK action plan and funding has been secured via Natural England. The permission provides for the necessary infrastructure to provide for the incubation and protection hatchlings and to provide a secure and safe outdoor space for the chicks to develop until the point of release.
